The move from Year 11 as a GCSE student to becoming a sixth form student marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. However, it is important to recognise that academically, the step up from GCSEs to A Levels and BTEC Level 3 courses is a significant one. For this reason, it is essential that all students joining the sixth form are well prepared for their chosen courses and ready to embrace the challenges of Level 3 study.
To support this transition, we provide transition work for every individual who secures a place in the sixth form.
For each A Level, BTEC course, and enrichment qualification, there is a transition pack. Each pack contains key course information alongside a series of preparatory tasks that must be completed by the time you enrol in Year 12 in September.
These tasks are designed to give you an initial taste of the topics and concepts you will explore during the first term. More importantly, completing the transition work will help you make a strong start in sixth form and ease the move from Year 11 to Year 12.
If you have secured a place in the sixth form, you can download the transition packs for your chosen courses below. Alternatively, if you would prefer a printed copy, you will be given one during the sixth form summer induction day, or you can contact Miss Dutton, who will be happy to arrange for copies to be sent to you.
Please note that transition work must be completed to the best of your ability and brought with you when you enrol in Year 12.
