Race for Life 2026 (Video & Photos)

The Race for Life is now a tradition at SWB with us now competing for the third successive year. Just like the first year, Mr Mason ran the London Marathon on April 26th to help raise further funds for our chosen charity ‘Cancer Research’ It gives us great pride seeing not just our students but the whole community supporting our event. this year, we also had some pupils from Loxdale come and join the event and hope for this to expand in future years.
As many of you will be aware, we lost ‘one of our own’ 3 years ago when Alexen Henriquez lost his long standing battle with cancer, just weeks before starting his final exams.
Alexen had been a true inspiration to us all with his outlook on life whilst going through such a traumatic experience physically and mentally.
It was that inspiration which Mr Mason took into the marathon in late April. Being one of a record breaking 59,000 competitors on a very warm day in London, he managed to complete the event on a very emotional day, surrounded by many inspirational charities and personal stories.
We have now raised £7406 in 2026, which takes our total to over £21,000, which is just phenomenal showing the power of a community coming together.
