Year 7 Transition 2024

Welcome Year 6 students and Parents!

Ormiston SWB Academy are delighted to welcome our new Year 7 Cohort for September 2024! We are really looking forward to you joining our SWB family in September, and we hope that the information you find here is useful in supporting the transition process.

Here at SWB, we understand that moving to secondary school can be an anxious time for some. However, we want you to know what a fantastic academy you are moving to; one that aligns academic success and personal development to ensure all learners have the very best of opportunities to not only succeed, but thrive, in an environment where students and their well-being are at the heart of all we do.

However, before they start their SWB journey with us in September, we thought sharing some key dates and information with you would support what we hope will be the smoothest of transitions.

Transition Week

Our Transition week will take place across the following dates:  

Monday 01 July – Friday 05 July 2024
09:30am until 2.30pm.

Throughout the week, all students will participate in a variety of curriculum lessons, CORE sessions and personal tutor sessions to become more familiar with the Ormiston SWB Academy environment, our CORE values and our Routines for Learning.

Please ensure your child wears their primary school uniform for the duration of transition week.

During the week, we advise that students bring a small healthy’ snack and drink for break time (please do not send fizzy energy drinks; these are prohibited in the academy). 

At lunch times, all students will be provided with a  hot or cold lunch selection for the duration of the week.  However, if you would prefer your child to bring their own lunch, they are very welcome to.

Y6 Parents Information Evening

Our Y6 Parents Information evening will take place on Wednesday 03 July 2024 from 4:00-6:00pm. The evening event is aimed at supporting you as you become part of the Ormiston SWB Academy family.  Even if you have older siblings here at the academy, we request you make it a priority to attend to ensure all up to date messages can be shared.

Evening Schedule

During the evening, as well as the Principal’s Presentation, our uniform provider will be on site for uniform purchases, and we are thrilled to welcome some of the external services we work with that support our student’s  well-being.  Please see below for relevant timings:

Uniform will be on sale between 4:00pm and 6:00pm on Brindley Floor (cash payments only).

• There will be a Principal’s Welcome Talk in the Lecture Theatre at 4:30pm, please attend if your child’s surname starts with the letters A – K.
• There will be a Principal’s Welcome Talk in the Lecture Theatre at 5:30 pm, please attend if your child’s surname starts with the letters L – Z.
