Welcome to the Year 7 Transition Information page.
Ormiston SWB Academy are delighted to welcome our new Year 7 Cohort in September 2022. Students are all invited on Wednesday 06 July 2022 to an induction day where they will experience lessons, have the opportunity to tour our building and facilities whilst meeting a number of their key staff.
Prospective parents are able to access the latest Academy information, virtual tours, testimonials, submit questions for our regularly updated FAQ, learn how to apply from our Admissions team and find out more about our curriculum and pastoral structures. As your child starts school in September it may be a good time to consider whether they wish to take advantage of the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. For more information on our music offer, please click here. To express an interest in Music Tuition please complete the Peripatetic Instrumental / Vocal Tuition online expression of interest form.
The above forms need to be completed online by Monday 04 July 2022.
Students will have an opportunity to spend a day here at Ormiston SWB Academy, starting to make new friends, experiencing lessons with specialist subject staff.

What to wear: Your current Primary School Uniform
What will I need: For the induction period we advise that students bring a small ‘healthy’ snack and drink for break time (please do not send fizzy energy drinks) and they will be provided with a hot or cold lunch selection on this day. If you prefer your child to bring their own lunch they are very welcome to.

New Intake Evening
Date: Wednesday 6 July 2022
Time: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
We look forward to welcoming parents and carers of all Year 6 students who have been offered a place in Year 7 at the school for September.
This event is an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s Head of Year and Director of Year, plus other Key Staff who will be working with your child from September onwards including SEND, Medical, Pastoral and Senior Management.

Where can I purchase Academy uniform?

Are you doing any tours?
Yes, these will be offered throughout the Autumn Term via a booking system. We will also host an open day event on Saturday 08 October 2022 to welcome any prospective Year 5/6 parents for upcoming years.
What if I have issues accessing the internet – how do I find out more about Ormiston SWB Academy?
Don’t worry. We’ll work with you. Call us and ask to speak to our Admissions Team – we’ll ensure that you are able to access the content. Please contact us on 01902 493797 and ask for Mrs Patel on extension 305.
What if I have questions or require more specific information?
If there’s a particular area of the Academy that interests you, let us know and we’ll do our very best to plan an activity around it or share wider information – you may want to learn more about state of the art, Science labs, fantastic PE provision or discuss your child’s needs with our Student Services Team. I have a child with special education needs, are you making any special provision?
Please send us an email – [email protected] and someone from our Student Services Team will get in touch to see how we are best able to support you and ensure that you and your child are able to access life at Ormiston SWB Academy.

How do I apply?
Applications to the Academy are made through the Local Authority’s coordinated admissions scheme. Parents are required to complete the Common Application Form (CAF) which is sent by their Local Authority. If you would like to apply for a Year 7 place at the Academy you should name the Academy as one of your preferences on the CAF. The Academy operate the same admission arrangements and oversubscription criteria as Wolverhampton City Council.

When is the closing date for applications for students starting in September 2023?
The closing date for applications will be Friday 28th October. Please check the local authority where you live for specific details.
Can I apply even if my child goes to a Primary School in a different borough?
We have lots of parents contact us who live in neighbouring boroughs, asking if they are able to apply to Ormiston SWB Academy. The answer is, of course you can! All you need to do is change the local authority drop-down box to Wolverhampton when you apply to find us easily.
