SWB celebrates A Level achievements

Pride and joy are abundant today at Ormiston SWB Academy, as students collect their post-16 results.

Sixth-Form students at the academy, which is part of Ormiston Academies Trust, are celebrating receiving their results following a year of hard work and determination in preparing for their exams.

The students’ successes have enabled many to secure places at their chosen universities, on esteemed apprenticeships and into highly skilled employment. The standout individual achievements include:

  • Xue Chen, who achieved grade As in fine art and geography, a B in psychology and a C in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), and has secured her place at the University of Birmingham to study Geography.
  • James Richards, who achieved three Bs in biology, geography and psychology and will go on to study Geography at the University of Birmingham.
  • Nile Ball, who achieved a grade A in philosophy, religion and ethics, a B in geography and a C in mathematics, and has secured a competitive apprenticeship with Aviva.
  • Tegan Wood, who achieved Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction in health and social care and will go on to study nursing at the University of Birmingham.
  • Hollie Walker achieved a Distinction* in health and social care and Distinction* and Distinction in sport. She will go on to study Physical Education and School Sport at Edge Hill University.
  • Ruby Tranter-Nicholls, who achieved a grade B in fine art and Distinction* and Distinction* in health and social care and has secured her place at the University of Wolverhampton to study Primary Education.

Students in fine art performed well across the board, with 50% of the cohort achieving an A* or A. Similarly, results in media and health and social care were strong, with over half of health and social care students achieving a Distinction or Distinction* as part of their grade, and two-thirds of the media cohort achieving a Distinction or Distinction*.
