Announcement from Mr. Hughes

28 March 2022

Dear Parents and Students,

I am writing to you today with some personal news, as after four immensely enjoyable and successful years as Principal of Ormiston SWB, I will be stepping down at the end of the academic year to become an Education Director (North) at Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) from September.

This is a difficult letter to write, as I have been privileged to have led SWB and I will leave with many fond memories of my time here, and working so closely with you all. As I reflect, I am proud to say we have achieved so much in partnership during our exciting journey together, and this was of course demonstrated most recently by receiving our first ever “GOOD’ Ofsted rating as an academy.

It is for this reason that I know that the academy will continue to build on the foundations we have created together, as it goes from strength to strength. The recruitment process to appoint a new Principal – who will share the same vision and values we collectively uphold as a school – will start shortly. Once the Principal has been appointed, due to start in September, we will communicate this with you.

I will continue to lead our academy through the remainder of the academic year, and I look forward to continuing to support the academy through my new role, as I will of course be remaining part of the Ormiston family. However, I would like to take this opportunity to thank students, staff, parents and governors wholeheartedly for their continuous support, commitment, loyalty and friendship throughout my time here. It has been a pleasure to be Principal here and to have shared the journey to ‘GOOD’ with you all.

I wish you all the very best for the academy and will be keeping a proud eye on the future successes here, come September.

Yours sincerely,

Rod Hughes
Principal
