On Wednesday 17th November 2021 (as part of the SWB ‘Ambition Academy’ for 2021-2) Year 7 pupils visited Warwick University campus and heard from Nick Butter, a British Endurance Athlete. In the last few years, Nick has run a marathon in every country of the world (that’s 196 marathons!), the first person to ever do this! The pupils were able to enjoy an inspirational message of valuing our time on the earth, doing more and respecting the planet and its people. Look out for a Netflix series coming in the new year which showcases Nick’s achievements.

As part of our ‘Ambition academy’ scheme, some Year 11 and Year 10 students attended a visit to Oriel College, Oxford University on Friday 19th November 2021. On the day, students experienced what it would be like to study at Oxford University, which involved attending a lecture, applying their thinking and reasoning skills, and touring the campus. This was a great opportunity for the students to explore what it would be like to study at a world-renowned university.

Students selected for our ‘Ambition Academy’ attended a talk from Warwick university on Monday 1st November. This gave them valuable insight into how to prepare yourself for a future application to a top university.
