In our final week of term we were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Wolverhampton, visiting our productions for a second year running to see our latest whole school production, “Beauty and the Beast”. She was very complimentary of the talent on display!
The Beauty and the Beast Creative Team of Mr Stevens, Mr Tipton and Mr Kibby could not be more proud of the performers and backstage crew for the way they have conducted themselves over a very gruelling rehearsal period and into their final show week.
Beauty and the Beast was not a show we originally planned to put on due to its complex vocals, dance numbers and costume and set requirements, but when we put a choice of 5 potential shows to our students they overwhelmingly voted for it! It has been a lot of hard work bringing this show to life, but despite all the problems we are sure you would agree that this has been the greatest (and certainly the most technically advanced) production we have staged yet!
Each and every one of the performers were individually brilliant and collectively outstanding. It is so magical to see the confidence that this incredibly talented cohort have gained through this process and we are sure there are some stars of tommorow amongst them!
This whole production would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our backstage crew, whether that is Annabel wrestling with tempremental mics, Keegan running sound and video cues while also coping with computer shutdowns (if you were there on Wednesday, you know!!) Summer, Troy and Reo lighting the stage up perfectly, Lennon saving performers from faulty microphones, and our crew of amazing year 11 backstage helpers, led by the always unflappable Sophie Vincent… we really can’t thank you all enough!
This was a beauty of a show, and now we look forward to a brief rest before we start making plans for the next show. Watch this space!
