Last week ten Year 8 girls attended a Tech event to raise the awareness of all the many and varied careers within STEM areas and in particular Technology. Currently women only make up around 22% of all technology jobs so this event was organised to inspire young girls to consider a career within the world of technology.

They undertook three session with companies. Sainsbury’s showed them how to use coding to make a key ring. They used software to make a 3D snowman with ScreenSkills and finally worked with InMoment to understand how important customer feedback data is and how to interpret that data to find ways for the company to improve.  They also heard an aspirational speech from Kari Lawler who is 16 years old but has already won many prestigious awards for her work in Technology and in particular, Artificial Intelligence.

They had an amazing day which really opened their eyes to the opportunities available.
