Year 13 students Libby and Terri have been involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award since September 2015 (year 9). During this time, they have completed their Bronze and Silver Award and are just about to finish their Gold Award. Over the 5 years that they have been participating, they have taken every opportunity presented to them and became assistant DofE leaders under the supervision of Mr Jones, which allowed them in turn to help many other students complete their awards.

They are the first ever students of Ormiston SWB Academy to become DofE Ambassadors setting a positive example for others to follow.

Recognising their skills in the DofE Award, Mr Jones has invited both students to return to the Academy to become volunteers helping him continue to run the Award across years 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13.

This week will see both volunteers complete an Expedition Assessors Course making them fully qualified DofE Assessors. In addition, they are also about to start a Mountain Leaders Course which, when complete, will qualify them to a very high level recognised by the British Mountaineering Council.

Ormiston SWB Academy, Ormiston Academies Trust and the Central DofE Office recognise their commitment and drive towards helping those younger students and agree that they represent all that is positive about the Award.
