Consultation on increase to academy capacity

12 July 2024

Dear interested party,

RE: Consultation on increase to academy capacity

You may recall our previous consultation dated October 2023, where we proposed to increase our Pupil Admission Number (PAN) from 200-230 pupils.

After an external feasibility study, it has been identified that an increase in capacity would be required to accommodate the increase in students.  As a result, I am writing to notify you of the upcoming consultation on the changes to the academy’s capacity.

These amendments may take the form of an additional single storey building (located within the academy grounds), configuration of existing learning spaces and creation of additional learning spaces/toilets/catering provision.  Any internal modifications would be completed during the summer holidays (2025 and 2026), to not impact upon the learning of the pupils.

The consultation period will run from Thursday 11th July 2024 until Thursday 12th September 2024; during this time, parents, carers and other stakeholders are invited to express their views and any concerns about the proposed changes to the academy capacity.

In accordance with statutory DfE guidance, the consultation will run for at least three term time weeks and, as an interested party at Ormiston SWB Academy, we are keen to hear your views on the proposed capacity changes; therefore, we invite you to participate in the consultation if you have any concerns regarding the matter.

All responses to the consultation should be made in writing and submitted before 5pm on Thursday 12th September 2024 to [email protected], marked FAO Admissions Team.

Please note that written responses should outline your personal details, including your name, address and relationship to the Academy.

At the end of the consultation period, the governing body will meet to consider responses. The outcome of the consultation will be published on the Academy website as soon as possible following a decision being reached by the body. Hard copies of the final report will be made available on request to all respondents of the consultation.

For further information regarding the consultation process or to discuss this matter, or anything mentioned in this letter, please contact [email protected], marked ‘Consultation’.

Yours sincerely,

Dan Mason
