On CORE day, our year 13s had a taste of some of the life skills they will need for their next steps at university and beyond. With a budget of £10, students had to plan a meal including a main and dessert, then shop for their ingredients, before coming back and cooking their chosen meal. The results were impressive! Students worked brilliantly in their groups and were rewarded with points for the most cost-effective, healthiest and well-presented dishes, and the most efficient teams… plus there were plenty of delicious leftovers to take home!
Miss Shuttleworth said ‘I was curious to see what dishes the students would create and, by the time the carbonaras, curries and brownies were being dished up, I was very much looking forward to fulfilling my role as taste tester! There were some really impressive dishes cooked and I have no doubt that students are ready for their next steps when they leave SWB. It was a proud day for the sixth form team!’
In addition, Year 13s also mastered the art of bed-making , fitting duvets with lightning speed! Students are ready for the next chapter, be it university or beyond. It was an empowering day, and we can’t wait to see them apply these skills in their future endeavors!
