Noah's Miles for Smiles Fundraiser

Noah is an Ormiston SWB Academy student, who has been selected for a once in a lifetime opportunity to go with the Scout Association to the 25th World Scout Jamboree to be held next year in South Korea.

Noah says “This truly is something I never thought would be possible, as 5 years ago (when I was 9), I was diagnosed with a tumor inside my spinal cord which resulted in emergency surgery, Proton radiation treatment abroad and using a wheelchair to get around. Understandably this trip comes with expenses and part of the personal challenge is to develop creative ways to raise funds to cover the trip’s costs. A challenge for me is self-propelling any distance at all. My family is very supportive and usually pushes me whenever we are out and about, as I suffer from shoulder pains and exhaustion since my surgery. Therefore the challenge I have set is to push myself the distance of 1 mile each day until my trip (July 2023, over 400 days). However, I will continue this afterwards to raise money for charities close to my heart.

Any funds raised that are not needed for the trip will be donated to my charities: Young lives vs Cancer, George and the Giant Pledge, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
