COVID Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

COVID Update

I hope you are keeping well and that your child has settled back into the new term.

As you may already be aware, the Government has now updated its guidance on mandatory face coverings within secondary schools. Students will no longer be required to wear face coverings in classrooms from Thursday 20th January onwards, and face coverings will no longer be needed in indoor communal areas from Thursday 27th January (the week after).

Guidance on the use of face coverings within classrooms and communal areas from the start of term was implemented to help limit transmission of Coronavirus and importantly to help minimise disruption to learning as much as possible, which continues to be our main priority. Based on current national data, the Government has advised that the prevalence of Covid is now on a downward trajectory, resulting in the updated guidance.

As such, we will continue to closely follow all Government guidance, and to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all our students and staff, we will continue to keep our internal safety procedures under constant review. Should there be any changes to these, we will let you know.

Your child is therefore no longer required to wear a face covering in school, but of course if they feel more comfortable in doing so within communal areas and busier corridors after the 27th January, then they are welcome to.

As always, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support, understanding and cooperation throughout the new term, and look forward to continuing to embark on a very positive year ahead.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours sincerely,

Mr W R Hughes

Principal
