Induction Information

Ormiston SWB Academy are delighted to announce details of our virtual e-vents. Students and their parents will be able to access and experience a whole range of virtual experiences and activities which will help them make a decision about their secondary school in September 2021.

Families are encouraged to register their interest in our virtual e-vents so they don’t miss out on information shared by the Academy. The form only takes a minute to complete and can be found here: Open E-vent Survey

Prospective parents will be able to access the latest Academy information, virtual tours, testimonials, submit questions for our regularly updated FAQ, learn how to apply from our Admissions team and find out more about our curriculum and pastoral structures. We’ll also have a video updates from our current students on what to expect when starting secondary school.  There will be surprises delivered to our local partner primary schools, LOOK OUT FOR YOUR GOLD ENVELOPE and also through the post too for Year 6 students and parents.

All content will be shared on our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts – so follow and subscribe now. Please be sure to check our website regularly as we will collate all of the links and content centrally so you have a central hub of information.

  1. When are your open events?

This year, students and their parents will be able to access and experience a whole range of virtual experiences and activities which will help them make a decision about their secondary school in September 2021. Due to the COVID restrictions, we will not be running any physical tours this year.

  1. How do I sign up to your virtual events?

Families are encouraged to register their interest in our virtual e-vents so they don’t miss out on information shared by the Academy.   1. Are you doing any tours?

No, we are disappointed that we can’t invite families to our wonderful Academy but the safety of everyone is our priority. We’ve been meticulous in our planning and communications throughout the pandemic and it’s really important that we provide a safe and enjoyable experience for one of the biggest decisions that a family will make together.

  1. What if I have issues accessing the internet – how do I find out more about Ormiston SWB Academy?

Don’t worry. We’ll work with you. Call us and ask to speak to our Admissions Team – we’ll ensure that you are able to access the content.

  1. What if I have questions or require more specific information?

If there’s a particular area of the Academy that interests you, let us know and we’ll do our very best to plan an activity around it or share wider information – you may want to learn more about state of the art Science labs, fantastic PE provision or discuss your child’s needs with our Student Services Team.   1. I have a child with special education needs, are you making any special provision?

Please send us an email – jcrawley@oswba.co.uk and someone from our Student Services Team will get in touch to see how we are best able to support you and ensure that you and your child are able to access life at Ormiston SWB Academy.

  1. How do I apply?

Applications to the Academy are made through the Local Authority’s coordinated admissions scheme. Parents are required to complete the Common Application Form (CAF) which is sent by their Local Authority. If you would like to apply for a Year 7 place at the Academy you should name the Academy as one of your preferences on the CAF.

The Academy operate the same admission arrangements and oversubscription criteria as Wolverhampton City Council. For more information please click here for the City of Wolverhampton Admissions Document.

  1. When is the closing date for applications for students starting in September 2021?

The closing date for applications will be 31st October. Please check the local authority where live for specific details.

  1. Can I apply even if my child goes to a Primary School in a different borough?

We have lots of parents contact us who live in neighbouring boroughs, asking if they are able to apply to Ormiston SWB Academy. The answer is, of course you can! All you need to do is change the local authority drop-down box to Wolverhampton when you apply to find us easily.
