Academy Houses

SWB Academy introduced four houses as a way to promote teamwork and competition. The Academy holds a number of competitions throughout the year  for each house to compete in. Our houses are named after inspirational people of whom originate from Wolverhampton.

Sanderson
Theresa Ione “Tessa” SandersonCBE (born 14 March 1956) is an English former javelin throwerand heptathlete. A six-time Olympian in the javelin (1976–1996), she won the gold medal in 1984 for Great Britain, and in 1996 she became the second track and field athlete, after discus thrower Lia Manoliu, to compete at six Olympics

Brindley
James Brindley (1716 – 27 September 1772) was an English engineer. He was born in Tunstead, Derbyshire, and lived much of his life in Leek, Staffordshire, becoming one of the most notable engineers of the 18th century.

Weston
Simon Weston CBE (born 8 August 1961) is a veteran of the British Army who is known for his charity work and recovery from severe burn injuries suffered during the Falklands War.

Attwood
Richard James David Dickie Attwood[1](born 4 April 1940, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire) is a British motor racing driver, from England. During his career he raced for the BRM, Lotus and Cooper Formula Oneteams. He competed in 17 World Championship Grands Prix, achieved one podium and scored a total of 11 championship points. He was also a successful sports car racing driver and won the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans race, driving a Porsche 917.
